Introduction To Collaborative Zine Making

March 25, 2024 @ 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm

This event is by donation/PWYC, proceeds go to the presenter. Please register to ensure we have space!

An practical introduction to making collaborative zines with the guidance and expertise of visiting presenter Theo Houghtaling! (A zine is a small independently published booklet, often non-commercial and niche subject matter, stylewise a mix of scrapbooking and collage of found and custom media both digital and scanned.)

Work together to create your own page/s for the first issue of the Ottawa Trans Library’s new group zine! Feel free to bring your naming ideas or help brainstorm at the event. With enough interest it will be an ongoing collaborative community project with many issues to come!

Bring your favorite art supplies and materials i.e a glue stick, scissors, markers/pens/your favorite writing & drawing tools, and old books/magazines/scrapbook paper you’re willing and wanting to cut up! Funky stuff like fabric scraps, sequins, stickers, and/or any poems, writing, or art you’d like to include – or just start from scratch at the event! We’ll have some art and crafting supplies at the library as well but this will help ensure there’s enough materials for everyone.

Or if you prefer working digitally, bring your phone/tablet too! We’ll have a printer and scanner available

Masking and testing the day of the event is encouraged
